Five Essential Oils You Must Add to Your Morning Shower

Essential Oils
For many people, the morning shower is the most anticipated part of the day. It gives you fifteen minutes of privacy and relaxation, where no one can disturb you and you are free to exist in your own world for a time. It’s important to take care of yourself, and your skin, especially with the stresses that daily life at work and home throw at us. As a result, you may want to try adding some essential oils to your morning shower. Here are five that you absolutely must have in your morning routine:

#1 Lavender Oil
Lavender Oil is probably one of the most popular of the essential oils. It’s been used for thousands of years for both medicinal and personal care, so there has to be some truth in it. It works as an excellent disinfectant for small cuts and grazes, as well as having quite a few therapeutic uses including the easing of skin rashes, insect bites, acne, and minor burns. Putting a few drops in your bath or shower can also help to ease frayed nerves and help you to relax for a peaceful night’s sleep. If you’re feeling unwell it can also help to clear the sinuses and ease respiratory infections.

#2 Clove Bud Oil
When it comes to dental issues, clove oil is the one that has been in use the longest. For centuries it has been used to alleviate the pain of toothaches, and even used as a remedy for cold sores. This essential oil is incredibly helpful at alleviating the symptoms of conditions such as athlete’s foot and general fungal infections. It also works well with insect stings/bites and bruising on the body. It has also been used as a remedy for an earache in the past and actually has quite excellent results. However, if you have sensitive skin then you should be careful suing this oil as it can cause some irritation. That said, if you are suffering from any of the above conditions, such as fungal infections, then it is certainly worth bringing this oil into your daily shower routine.

#3 Peppermint Oil
Peppermint oil is incredibly soothing. Much like peppermint tea, it is excellent for soothing a sore stomach and helping with digestive issues. It can also help to relieve you of nausea and headaches, as well as containing some antiseptic properties. This makes it worth applying to small cuts and bruises if you have some in your bathroom cabinet. Simply massaging this oil into an area with sore muscles can really help to alleviate some of the pain you may be suffering with as a result. It has a lovely aroma that is sure to help relieve any remaining tension in your muscles and assist in giving you a good night’s sleep.

#4 Black Pepper Oil
Black pepper oil is extracted from the unripe berry of the black pepper plant using steam distillation. While reminiscent of the condiment we use in the kitchen, it actually has some excellent properties that will make you want to bring it into your daily routine. It has a stimulating and warming effect that can help to improve circulation in the body as well as help to soothe any sore muscles you might have. It works as an excellent antiseptic, and also contains properties that aid digestion. As well as being a natural laxative it also helps to relieve stomach aches and redness in the skin. Many people often use it to increase their alertness as it can also work as a cognitive stimulant.

#5 Eucalyptus Oil
This essential oil is excellent at helping to relieve several stresses and pains. If you find yourself suffering from joint and muscle pain, this oil (like several others) works very well at relieving the discomfort when rubbed into the skin. It is often recommended to those suffering from nerve pain and sprained ligaments. It is also used for helping to alleviate the symptoms of the common cold and asthma, alongside other respiratory problems. By inhaling this oil during your morning shower you will often find yourself with clearer airways and easier breathing. As well as being an antiseptic, it is also commonly used in dental hygiene, and is often found as an active ingredient in toothpaste and mouthwash. In fact, eucalyptus in itself has excellent plaque-fighting properties and plays a key part in keeping your mouth clean.

Above all, you will find yourself better stimulated when showering with this essential oil as it acts in a way to make you feel more alert to your surroundings, and helps rejuvenate a mentally exhausted mind. Eucalyptus oil is definitely one to consider for your morning shower.

For an added benefit you might want to consider purchasing a steam shower. The steam allows for the aromatherapy effects of the oils to really take full effect, which results in better relaxation and general relief. If you’re interested in taking a look at some steam showers, then click here.
