Healthy morning routines can set the tone for the perfect day. If your morning starts off well, then the rest of your day is sure to follow suit, right? Try these seven wellness hacks to help get you energized, revitalized, and ready to seize the day!
Drink lemon water. Lemons are truly an amazing fruit! Chock full of antioxidants and healing properties, when added to a glass of warm water in the morning with a handful of fresh, fragrant mint leaves are a great way to jump start your day and to not only feel your best, but to look your best as well.
Add the juices of 1/2 a lemon and a handful of fresh mint leaves to an 8 oz. glass of warm water in the morning to revitalize and refresh your body and mind, as well as your day.
Spritz your way to the perfect day! When it comes to looking and feeling refreshed in the morning, hydrating mists can instantly awaken and rejuvenate your skin. Feeling haggard and tired? Mist your face first thing in the morning to re-hydrate and refresh your skin.
Here are two awesome DIY hydrating mists that you can make at home to refresh your morning:
Cucumber-Aloe Hydrating Mist
Ingredients
- 1 small cucumber
- 1/3 cup of distilled water
- 1 tsp. of aloe vera
- 1 tsp. witch hazel
- 4-ounce glass spray bottle
Directions
Peel and cut the cucumber (dice it or toss into a food processor). If using a processor, strain through a cheese cloth to extract the cucumber essence and to keep your mist light. (You can include some of the diced pieces in the mix either way.) Pour into your spray bottle along with the water, aloe vera, witch hazel and shake it up! Hold approximately 8 inches from face, close eyes, and lightly mist.
Rose Soothing Anti-Aging Mist
Ingredients
- 1/2 cup of organic rose water
- a few drops of vitamin E oil
- 3 drops of ylang ylang essential oil
- 4-ounce glass spray bottle
Directions
Combine water, vitamin E oil and ylang ylang oil in your water bottle. Voila! You’re ready to mist.
Start the night before. Getting a good night’s sleep the night before can make a world of difference in how you feel in the morning. Try to get at least seven hours of good quality sleep. If you have trouble sleeping, try writing in a journal to help organize your thoughts. Writing a to-do-list can also help put your mind at ease.
Eat breakfast. As you’ve probably heard, breakfast is by far the most important meal of the day, providing you with the nutrients and energy you need to thrive throughout the day. No time for a big meal? No worries! Boil some eggs the night before and have a few on your way out the door. Egg whites stimulate orexin, a neurochemical released during REM sleep that controls wakefulness. Bonus benefit of eating breakfast? You’ll nibble less on high calorie snacks during the day!
Just stretch.
Trying to find enough energy to make it through a long and hectic day can sometimes seem impossible. The experts at the American Council on Exercise suggest that stretching in the morning can help support your energy levels throughout the day. Starting the day with some light stretching exercises or yoga will help keep your body strong and energized, and can also help improve posture, reduce aches and pains, and even increase blood flow.
Soak in some sunshine.
Before you leave for work, take a few minutes to soak in some sun rays. Sunshine helps to boost vitamin D levels, that have been shown to play a role in sustaining energy by enhancing the activity of mitochondria (the batteries of your cells). Bright light also helps to wake you up and releases hormones that keep you alert throughout the day.
Enjoy a quick massage.
Woke up with some aches and pains? Treating yourself (literally) with a MyoBuddy percussive massage is a great way to quickly ease those aches and pains, before you even leave your house, while also increasing your circulation and mobility. It also just feels good! And when you start your day pain-free, you’ll definitely feel the benefits throughout the day.
